Meet Karen

Hello and welcome!  

I'm Karen (she / her), Certified Integrative Health Coach, Owner Sacred Seeds Integrative Health Coaching, former Bone Marrow Transplant Registered Nurse, Women's Health Advocate. 

Here’s a rundown of some of the life experiences I bring to my coaching practice:

Mom of 3 young adults - almost survived the teen years (While navigating perimenopause!) I’m grateful to have shared and navigated parenting and homeschooling /alternative schooling life with my husband of 21 years.   We're in the adult stage now - ha! That was Dream #1. 

Dream #2: went back to school during the pandemic to study Health Coaching and Positive Psychology and grow a Health Coaching Business.  I feel incredibly grateful when I think about the support that I've had through my own health challenges and know it's worth it to push through my comfort zone and 'put myself out there' with intentions of discovering who I might meet and help along the journey - as well as discover what I have yet to learn!  This is how I want to live the second half of my life---with purpose and meaningful intention; pulling women up and out of their own messy experiences through perimenopause; To enlighten you, to normalize your experience, and recognize you as the heroine of your own story.

My Story, My Why

Sacred Seeds Health Coaching was born out of my deep concern and vision for supporting women and teens / young adults that are struggling with navigating big life transitions.  Prior to the pandemic, the sweet Snoqualmie Valley community that my family resides in experienced tremendous grief surrounding the loss of several teens to suicide. Prior to those painful losses, I felt keenly aware of how much pressure and stress so many teens I have had the privilege to be connected with over the years appeared to carry.  Those observations coupled with my own struggle with anxiety and early perimenopause, led me to want to bring support and hope to those also struggling – especially through hormonal transitions.

As a former alternative schooling Mom of three older teens and young adults, I've had the privilege of living a full family life - a life often lived at full throttle volunteering with PTSA's, Girl Scouts and other community-based organizations geared toward supporting youth wellness.  Having lost sight of my own health at times, I have been graced with empathetic and expert support from others that carried me through some of my most vulnerable seasons.  I hope to pay it forward and make a positive impact on others who may be feeling stuck or hopeless at the thought of improving their well-being and experiencing life fully, instead of prisoners to their personal struggle.  Through my lived experience of many issues related to perimenopause and other life altering health challenges, I feel especially empathetic for those in hormonal transition who yearn to ‘feel like themselves’ again; to feel seen and perhaps most importantly ---know that they're not alone.

On this site, I've shared resources that have been supportive in my own transition through perimenopause and come up in conversation with fellow travelers navigating like-lived experiences.

​I was fortunate to spend the greater part of the pandemic lockdowns gleaning all the knowledge and experience I could about the neuroscience of sustainable behavior change while coaching my peers under the guidance of expert Duke University coaching mentors. I humbly attribute my own wellbeing throughout the pandemic in large part to being on the receiving end of health coaching.   

​

In this space, it is important to me to recognize that not all women have felt safely supported, nor have been welcomed to the table of conversation representing these women's health concerns; in large part and unfairly-so, based on the color of their skin, gender orientation and / or socio-economic status in their communities.  It is my intention to make sure I do my part to not support systemic systems that oppress  and present barriers to all women being able to afford and receive care.  In this intention, I invite women who identify as BIPOC and / or LGBTQ+ to inquire with me about an additional discount off your health coaching fees.  

​

​Walking alongside a trusted health coach has opened up so many possibilities for expanding my own web of support while navigating my own health challenges - motivating me to partake in life choices and behaviors that I know ultimately have potential to prevent and manage disease, support longevity and allow for more joy and ultimately a more meaningful life!  That's where Sacred Seeds Health Coaching can enter in for you.  You do not have to navigate one of life's most profound seasons on your own.
